Health Insurance

Filed under: Advice — MerryS @ 3:38 am

When you decide to go into business, for yourself, many things change… especially if you are leaving a job in the ‘traditional workforce’. Most of these changes are welcome and eagerly anticipated, a few however are not.

One of these changes that you might not be looking forward to is the lack of adequate health care coverage, which may or may not have been paid for by a previous employer.

If you are relatively young and in good health, you may not think that paying for your own health insurance is necessary. Unfortunately, no one is immune from the possibility of accident or illness. The unexpected can happen, at any time.

There are many reputable insurance companies that will issue health care coverage to the self-employed. By conducting research on a number of them, you will become better acquainted as to what they have to offer.

Whether you are in need of health insurance strictly for yourself or your entire family, you will be presented with several affordable options. Many of these providers offer dental and eye care coverage, as well.

Don’t put off purchasing adequate health care coverage. You never know when you might need it. As the saying goes… ‘it’s better to be safe, than sorry’!

Relaxation Techniques

Filed under: Health — MerryS @ 5:19 am

Self employment is a wonderful thing, for many individuals. Because they no longer work for someone else, they tend to experience less stress than they did in their previous work environment.

Unfortunately, no job will ever be 100% stress free. Even if a business is doing well there is always the threat of ‘bumps in the road’ that could easily cause a stressful situation. This is why it is important to learn a few good relaxation techniques.

These techniques don’t have to be complicated. There is no need to invest a great deal of money into costly supplies and/or newfangled equipment. Many relaxation techniques can be preformed for little or better yet… nothing.

There are many breathing techniques that you can learn that cost nothing. Visit your local library or do an online search for information, in regard to self-taught breathing techniques or even some type of meditation.

(One of the great things about working for yourself is the fact that you can usually take a short break, whenever needed. When you feel yourself becoming a bit stressed, take a few minutes to relax. You’ll be surprised at how much better you’ll feel.)

Buy a stress ball. Believe it or not, these little ‘squeezy’ balls work wonders when you are feeling tense. They are very inexpensive and come in a rainbow of colors that will match all of your moods.

The Importance of Sleep

Filed under: Health — MerryS @ 4:37 am

There are many reasons why it is so important to get an adequate amount of sleep, on a continuous basis. Lack of sleep can have an impact on your productivity and lead to irritability and poor health.

It is recommended that adults get at least eight hours of sleep, each night. This number is really just an average, as some people need more while others need less to function normally.

Not getting enough sleep can affect many aspects of your life. The less sleep you get, the more negatively it impacts your life. There is really no way around it, you need to get the proper amount of sleep!

Lack of sleep affects your memory and concentration levels. This is not good, especially when your goal is to achieve wealth, whether you are working for yourself or someone else. Sleep actually helps you to better retain information.

When you aren’t getting enough sleep, you are a bigger safety risk. Chances are much higher that you will slip and fall, be involved in an auto accident, etc.

You may even gain weight, when you don’t get enough sleep. Chronic lack of sleep affects your metabolism, which in turn affects how your body processes calories.

Is a Career in Direct Sales for You?

Filed under: Make money, Running own business — MerryS @ 11:19 pm

If you are interested in running your own business the first thing you need to do is decide what kind of business most interests you. It is also important to determine the amount of start-up funds, which will be available to you.

If you don’t have unlimited time and money to start your own business, all is not lost. A career in direct sales could be the answer. This is especially true if you are outgoing and not to pursue something that can offer you unlimited income potential.

(Let’s face it; who wants to work for an hourly wage when commissions can be so much higher.)

There are literally hundreds of companies that offer direct sales opportunities. It’s not just Tupperware or Avon, anymore.

The majority of companies require you to purchase a basic sales kit when you sign on with them. It includes sample products and all the paperwork needed, for you to get started.

As a rule, you have the option of selling via home-parties, the Internet, fairs and festivals or simply to the people in your comfort zone. The possibilities are only limited to your imagination.

Not only do you earn a commission for the products that you sell, it’s also possible to recruit people into your ‘downline’, as well. You then earn extra commission, based on their sales figures.

Overcoming Procrastination

Filed under: Advice, Behavior, Procrastination — MerryS @ 9:10 pm

If you tend to be a procrastinator, you are not alone. Millions of individuals procrastinate occasionally. Of course, there are those that deal with procrastination on a much more frequent basis, as well.

Regardless of the group you fit into, there are things you can do to help you overcome this bad habit. Soon, you will find yourself completing tasks at a rate you never thought possible. Increased productivity is ALWAYS a good thing!

One of the best things you can do when overcoming procrastination is to make a list of the things you need to get done, over the course of a few days.

For best results, at least at the beginning, it should be a somewhat simple plan. Break tasks up in approximately 30 minute increments… that way it will seem as though you are getting more done. As you cross each step off of your list, you will be one step closer to completing that specific task.

Alternate projects you are not fond of with tasks you enjoy doing. Doing so will break up the monotony of the day and reduce the chances of lower productivity.

Make note of the interruptions that occur during your day. Try to prevent them in the future, once you have detected a pattern.

These are just a few steps in avoiding procrastination. With determination, you can ‘just say no’ to procrastination.

How to Make the Most of Your Stimulus Payment

Filed under: Advice, Personal finance — MerryS @ 11:37 pm

The majority of tax payers have already received or will be receiving a stimulus payment. Read on, for suggestions on how to get the most out of your stimulus check.

It is probably obvious that very retailer on the face of the earth is hoping that you will spend your windfall, on their merchandise. Many are even offering incentives, to convince you to shop with them.

However, if you are currently dealing with credit card debt it’s probably wiser to pay it down, instead of buying new merchandise that you really don’t need. Your money will go further if you pay off (or down) your highest interest credit card, first.

You also have the option of investing the money. Although nothing is guaranteed, there are many types of investments that are relatively safe. Financial experts often advise you to go with a variety of low cost mutual funds.

Another idea is to start an ‘emergency fund’, with the money. You never know when you might need money for car repairs or other unexpected occurrences. With the state of our current economy, most consumers are finding it increasingly difficult to keep up with the rising cost of everyday necessities… much less emergency situations.

More Personality Types

Filed under: Personality — MerryS @ 9:18 pm

As was mentioned in a previous post, there are many different personality types. Have you ever wondered which one you fall under? Read on to see if you fit into one of these categories.

If you tend to be artistic, you may have an ISFP (Introverted Sensing Feeling Perceiving) personality. You might be quite and somewhat reserved. You may have difficulty meeting new people, as well.

Many individuals who exhibit an ISFP personality love animals and everything that has to do with nature. They are very perceptive and are always quite aware of what is going on around them.

If you feel a great sense of duty, you might have an ISTJ (Introverted Thinking Sensing Judging) personality. You are usually organized and succeed in completing almost ever task you are presented with.

You can be faithful and loyal but at the same time not necessarily in tune with the feelings of those around you. However, you typically are a generous provider, when it comes to family.

Natural born leaders, who have little tolerance for error, usually fall under the category of ENTJ (Extraverted Intuitive Thinking Judging) personality. Think ‘high-powered executive’.

Even though they can be quite influential, they are often overly sentimental. A trait they prefer to hide from the general public.

Time Management Tips

Filed under: Time management — MerryS @ 9:52 pm

Do you often feel as though there is not enough time in your day? Do you feel like you never get enough accomplished, during a typical day. If so, consider the following time management tips… chances are you will find them quite beneficial.

Prioritize. Take the time to list tasks, in order of their importance. By concentration on the most important things first, you will probably find that your days are a bit more productive. Even if you don’t work faster, the most important projects will still get done in a timelier manner.

Analyze your work habits. Take notes in regard to how you spend your work day, for one week. Don’t leave ANYTHING out! Going over these notes, it will be easier to determine where your strengths and weaknesses lie. You can then make an informed decision as to what you must do to increase your productivity.

Organize your office space. As trivial as this may sound, it is one of the best ways to adequately manage your time. If all of your paperwork and supplies are within easy access, you won’t have to waste time looking for something you have misplaced.

As the saying goes… ‘A place for everything and everything in it’s place’!

Goals – Start Small

Filed under: Advice, Goals, Howto — MerryS @ 7:21 pm

If you find it somewhat difficult to achieve the goals you have set for yourself, in the past, don’t despair! There is still hope. Better yet, achieving these new goals is probably easier than you think.

The key to your success is this; start small. Achieve new goals in baby steps. After the first goal has been met, you will feel such a sense of accomplishment that you will want to try all the harder, to meet your next goal.

If your ultimate goal is to make $100 a day, via Internet marketing, it’s not going to happen overnight. If you set out with just that one goal, chances are, you will get discouraged very quickly. It takes time, dedication and hard work to build up to that income level.

BUT, if you take that same $100 a day goal and break it down into several smaller ones, you will be much more likely to reach your ultimate goal, in the end.

Tell yourself you want to make $10, per day. Yes, $10 is a long way from $100 but look at it as a stepping stone, of sorts. Once you have reached the $10 mark, set a second goal. Repeat the process until you are bringing in $100, on a daily basis.

Try a series of small goals. Success really is in your favor.
