Zen Gardening – Desktop Style

Filed under: Success — MerryS @ 4:35 am

Acquiring wealth can sometimes be stressful. (It’s a tough job but somebody has to do it, right?) There are many ways to relieve stress. There are breathing exercises and squeeze balls and meditation techniques. But, have you ever though about playing in the sand… zen garden sand, that is.

Zen gardens originated in Japan, many MANY years ago. They have done an adequate job of relieving stress, all through the ages.

Making a desktop zen garden is very easy. In fact, only four things are needed. These four things are a tray, playground sand, small rocks and a miniature rake or small stick. No pail and shovel required.

The tray you choose should be shallow and compact enough to fit nicely on your desk. (A wooden serving tray is an excellent choice.)

Fill tray with sand, ½ inch to the top. Playground or sandbox sand is best because it has been filtered and contains no foreign debris. You can also use ‘sand art’ sand. It is available in a variety of colors. Choose different colors to correspond with different moods.

Adding the rocks, symbolize mountains. The sand symbolizes water.

Whenever you are feeling stressed, play in your garden. Re-arrange the rocks or use the stick as a pencil, of sorts. It’s always fun to write in the sand.

Personal development for success

Filed under: Success — Kava @ 5:34 pm

It could be argued that personal development is one of the most important factors in whether or not a person will succeed in life. Many people fail precisely because they fail to understand this concept. Our educational system does not help, since students are not fully taught the importance of personal development. However, I want to first start off this article by defining personal development. As the name implies, personal development is a term that is used to describe the development of an individual. Personal development could consist of emotional factors, as well as physical factors. The theory behind personal development is truly fundamental.

It could actually be derived from a concept that was presented by Sun Tzu, author of the book The Art of War, a classical text on military strategy: When you know your enemy and you know yourself, you need not fear the results of a hundred battles. What I mean by this is that it is important to master yourself. Most people go through life not knowing their strengths or weaknesses, or they know their strengths and weaknesses, but they don’t take the time to deal with them. When you don’t take the time to harness your strengths while minimizing your weaknesses, you set the stage for failure. One of the first steps of personal development is to sharpen the mind. Most people are proficient with either use the left or right hemispheres of their brain, and there are a few people who can use both sides equally.

While some people are more analytical, others are more creative. The first step of personal development is to find out where you excel. Are you an analytical person, or are you more creative. Is it possible that you are a excellent mixture of both? Once you figure out which side of your brain you’re more proficient with, you can spend more time becoming sharper in this area. For example, if you find that you have a gift with numbers, and you enjoy it, this is a sign that you will want to develop yourself in an area that is related to numbers. If you find that you are skilled with creativity, perhaps you should seek to develop yourself in a field that is closely related to design, art, music, or even literature.

Many people make the mistake of believing that they will gain personal development while they are in highschool or college. Unfortunately, this is often not the case. While you may develop important skills that can help you thrive in life, many of the factors that make up personal development are things that you must learn outside of a classroom. Because technology continues to advance, many of the things you learned in college or highschool may be obsolete by the time you graduate. Because of this, you must continue your education once you leave school. Some people decide to avoid college altogether and become autodidacts, or people who are self taught.

The second step of personal development is your physical body. There has been a great deal of information written on this topic, and this information is widely available. Being strong in the mind is futile if it is not in harmony with the body. You will want to spend some time becoming physically fit. While this does not mean you need to be a bodybuilder, you will want to improve your cardio as well as your physical strength. If you don’t want to pay for a gym membership, there is low cost exercise equipment that you can buy for your home. Exercise doesn’t have to be complex, It could be something as simple as jogging, walking, or riding a bike.

You will also want to pay attention to the foods you eate. Eating foods that give you large amounts of energy will prepare you for the challenges you will face on a daily basis. If you have an improper diet, you will be prone to high levels of stress, and you will not have the physical and mental resources to deal with it. Many successful people spend a great deal of time exercising when they’re not working, because this equips them with the armor that can allow them to face stressful situations with a great deal of ease. Another important part of personal development is the acquisition of knowlege. While gaining useful knowledge sounds easy, it is not as easy as you think.

As you read this, you may be wandering why this is the case. After all, don’t we live in the information age? Yes, but much of the information we’re given on a daily basis is useless. It often has very little effect on our personal well being. Instead of reading about the latest celebrity break up or the revenues a Fortune 500 company has made over the last six months, take the time to gain knowledge that is useful to your daily life. If you are a business person that wants to succeed in a specific field, you should learn as much about it as you can. Learn how to separate practical knowledge from knowledge that is useless.

Many people fail to find success in life because they spend too much time being concerned about things that simply don’t matter in the long term. To gain knowledge for your personal development, you will want to spend time studying things that are useful to you. For example, if you want to become a freelance programmer, you will want to spend a great deal of time studying literature on the subject. If you want to learn a second language, you will want to spend time studying that as well. Gaining the proper amount of knowledge will allow you to develop as a person. Knowledge is power, and those who do not have knowledge are essentially in the dark. If you want to tip your odds of success in life, spend less time reading mainstream information and place a higher emphasis on getting your information from independent sources.

A Friend of Prosperity

Filed under: Success — Jean @ 9:01 am

Making money is not the most difficult thing, but to live with it is a whole lot of getting used to. Becoming rich is a new experience for those who are not born rich and it is not just confined to driving luxury cars, living in a mansion or wearing jewelry. Prosperity is a way of life, and the rich are different from the poor in many ways other than just material symbolization.

There are a lot of changes you have to make to adapt to a life of prosperity. Even the people around you will treat you differently. If you manage to adjust well to the demands of a wealthy environment, you are bound to have a splendid life. However, for some people, being rich can be quite a strange experience compared to their previous lifestyles where their days are spent primarily to make ends meet. Maybe prosperity is not exactly what they imagined it to be. Well, imagination and reality do have their differences.

Money is just a resource, and there is nothing wrong with it. However, since the world accords such importance to it, it has become the tool for many corruptible deeds. It is truer now than ever before that ‘money makes the world go round’. Many people make it the foremost ambition of their lives, without actually knowing what they truly wish to do if they achieve the wealth they so long for. It is quite a misconception that money can buy you happiness, because depending on how you use it, it can even be the cause of much personal misery and turmoil.

When you become wealthy, everything changes around you. One of the predicaments of rich people is that they find it difficult to ascertain if their friends are true to them or their money. Everybody seems to treat you better wherever you go, and while you enjoy the newfound attention initially, you will begin to have your doubts later. Soon, you will discover that the simple life that you used to enjoy is a thing of the past and you have to actually make efforts to accommodate your new lifestyle and acquaintances.

It is possible to tell the rich from the poor just by looking at them. The rich people seem to be more relaxed and confident in their manners. They can even dress in very simple attires, but their gestures and the way they behave will imply their prosperity. In terms of lifestyle, they are more carefree because they do not have to worry about making ends meet. They are comfortable with themselves everywhere they go. In order to assume the mannerisms and lifestyle of the wealthy, you have to forget about the hardships you have experienced in the past and begin to shower yourself with love.

Simply said, it is important to feel that you deserve every penny of the fortune you have amassed. Most people who ascend to prosperity from a hard life find it hard to accept that they are finally rich. But you have to overcome that to really understand the true meaning of prosperity. Prosperity is a friend, not an enemy.
